The Call
Rastafari teaches that every human being carries the divine spark of Jah — without exception. The incarcerated are not forgotten by Jah, and they will not be forgotten by us.
Babylon's systems of incarceration strip people of identity, dignity, and hope. Our ministry enters those spaces not to manage people, but to remind them of who they are — children of the Most High, capable of healing, growth, and transformation.
This is not charity. This is covenant.

Ital Livity
Food is not a peripheral concern — it is central to healing. We bring Ital nutrition, herbal medicine, and nutritional education into correctional facilities and reentry programs across Sacramento.
Ital is the Rastafari principle of clean, life-giving, plant-based nourishment. The word derives from "vital" — because food is not merely fuel, it is medicine, it is worship, it is a declaration of who you are and whose you are.
Correctional food systems are designed for cost and control — not healing. We work to introduce Ital principles within facility constraints: whole foods, herbal teas, plant-based options, and nutritional education that empowers incarcerated individuals to make life-giving choices even in limited environments.
Rastafari herbal tradition carries centuries of healing wisdom. We teach the use of accessible herbs — ginger, turmeric, moringa, soursop leaf — for immune support, stress reduction, and digestive health. Knowledge of one's own body is an act of liberation.
We provide structured nutritional education sessions inside correctional facilities — teaching the relationship between food, mood, cognition, and behavior. When people understand how food affects their mind, they begin to reclaim agency over their own healing.
The transition from incarceration to community is one of the most vulnerable periods in a person's life. We provide Ital meal support, grocery guidance, and community kitchen access to individuals in the first 90 days after release.
Our Sacramento community kitchen is a sacred space — open to those in need, staffed by volunteers, and rooted in the principle that no one in our community should go hungry. Ital meals are prepared and shared every Sunday after worship.
Reasoning Sessions
Our Reasoning & Rehabilitation program is a structured, six-part session format delivered inside correctional facilities. It draws on Rastafari reasoning tradition — communal, respectful, truth-seeking dialogue — and integrates evidence-informed rehabilitation principles.
Every session begins with prayer, grounding, and the establishment of a sacred circle of trust. No one is judged. No one is ranked. I and I are equal before Jah.
We read from the Bible, the Kebra Nagast, and other sacred texts — not to preach, but to reason together. Participants are encouraged to question, interpret, and engage.
Each participant is invited to share their story — their path, their pain, their vision for their future. Testimony is received with full respect and without interruption.
We practice honest self-assessment — not shame, but clear-eyed acknowledgment of choices and their consequences. Accountability is the foundation of genuine change.
Participants develop a concrete vision for life after incarceration — housing, work, community, family, and spiritual practice. We help translate vision into actionable steps.
Each session closes with a covenant — a commitment made before Jah and the circle to carry the work forward. The covenant is renewed at every session.
"The legacy of those who gave their lives to heal the sick is not finished. It continues in us — in every circle we open, every meal we share, every person we refuse to abandon."— Sanctuary of the Sun
How We Operate
Our outreach ministry operates in three phases — inside correctional facilities, during reentry, and in the broader Sacramento community. Each phase is designed to create continuity of care.
